After a three-year hiatus The Legends of Tennis is back in 2023 with our very own legend Cliff Drysdale!
Cliff was a highly ranked professional player in the 60’s and early 70’s and went on to become a well-known tennis announcer for ESPN. He captured 5 singles titles and 6 double titles. He was a pioneer of the two-handed backhand shot and was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2013.
Tickets and Sponsorships are now available for the 2023 Legends of Tennis! This community one-day charitable fundraising event will take place at the Country Club of Landfall’s Drysdale Sport’s Center. Now it’s your chance to meet the legend the sport center was named for. Mark your calendar now for Saturday, September 30, because your tickets are only a few clicks away.
In addition for the chance to meet Cliff Drysdale, our lineup of tennis pros is: Luke Jensen (1993 French Open Doubles Champion), Mikael Pernfors (1986 French Open finals, defeated Boris Becker in quarter finals), Will Bull (ATP ranked 330 at 19 and now 25-year tennis instructor)., and Ellis Ferreira (2000 Australian Open Doubles Champion and 2001 Australian Open Mixed Doubles Champion). There will be a sponsor clinic by the pros in the morning and a competition between the pros with participation of the UNCW Tennis Team in the afternoon. The CCL tennis staff will conduct a clinic for members of the Boys & Girls Club in the morning. Sponsorship opportunities are now available. This community one-day event will take place at the Country Club of Landfall’s Drysdale Sports Center.
Proceeds from Legends of Tennis are returned to the community in the form of Foundation grants to non-profit organizations in the areas of Education, Health and Welfare, and the Arts. Since its inception in 1995, the Landfall Foundation has granted more than $6.6 million to Wilmington area non-profit organizations. In 2022, the Foundation funded more than $560,000 to local non-profit organizations.
