About Legends of Tennis
Landfall Legends began in 1992 with Cliff Drysdale, former professional tennis player and Director of Tennis at the Country Club of Landfall. Landfall Legends has showcased the talents of such famous and legendary tennis professionals as Billie Jean King, Rod Laver, Tracy Austin, Patrick McEnroe, Jimmy Arias and Stan Smith. The three day tennis exhibition features singles, doubles and mixed doubles play, a Grand Slam banquet and Sponsors Clinic. Since its inception, on court play has included local tennis professionals, the UNCW men’s and women’s tennis teams and CCL’s ACE Academy junior players. Landfall Legends is organized by the Landfall Legends Committee comprised of CCL members and non-members. Over the course of more than ten years, Landfall Legends has helped raise over $100,000 for local non-profits.
